Sunderland Set to Host Project Management Conference in Anniversary Year

"This is the fifth time that we have held the Synergy event in Sunderland and it looks set to be as popular as ever."
Dave Bewick, Branch Chair at PMI UK North East

The region’s largest project management conference is set to return to Sunderland this November, as PMI (Project Management Institute) celebrates its 50th anniversary year.

The renowned Synergy conference will take place at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday 20th November (5.30pm to 9.30pm). The thought provoking theme of the Synergy event will be “Striving and thriving in this crazy VUCA world!” (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous).

Stephen Carver from Cranfield School of Management and Lysa Morrison, Director of Transformation at Cintra HR & Payroll, will take to the stage to offer their expertise on VUCA. In addition, the Teesside Enactus, Teesside University’s student society for social enterprise, will be showcasing some of their key projects.

Attendees will also be given the opportunity to network with local and regional businesses and meet event sponsors including The Facilitation Partnership, Inky Thinking, Spitfire, Vantec, Big Picture Learning, Mosaic Partners, The Bayard Partnership and Cintra HR & Payroll.

Dave Bewick, Branch Chair at PMI UK North East, comments: “This is the fifth time that we have held the Synergy event in Sunderland and it looks set to be as popular as ever. It’s exciting that we can be part of the 50th anniversary events and it will be a great opportunity for our members and other guests to celebrate.”

PMI is the world’s leading project management organisation involving more than 2.9 million professionals worldwide through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research.

Founded in 1995, PMI UK is a non-profit volunteer organisation with over 3,500 members. Hosting daytime and evening events (in-person and digital) across the UK, PMI UK promotes the project management profession, supports professional development and provides the opportunity to network with practitioners from across industry sectors.

In its 50th anniversary year, PMI will also host a series of celebratory events world-wide, including at venues in Las Vegas and Lebanon.

The organisation has also pledged to contribute 100,000 volunteer hours to advance causes aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and rebranded with a new logo to better reflect its new vision for the future of the organisation. PMI UK has become one of the first chapters to adopt the new branding, which includes the launch of a new look website.
